CVET develops engineered therapeutic strategies to protect cardiovascular tissues, restore function after injury, and promote regeneration. Our work integrates molecular and cellular therapies, biomaterials, targeted delivery, and organelle engineering across cardiac and vascular disease. 

Cardiac Protection and Repair

CVET develops therapies to prevent and reverse cardiac injury caused by disease, arrhythmia, and treatment-related stress. Current areas include cardio-oncology, modulation of stress-response and electrophysiological pathways, RNA-based therapeutics, and approaches designed to preserve cardiomyocyte function without compromising the treatment of underlying disease.

Engineered Mitochondrial Therapeutics

CVET develops mitochondrial transplantation and engineering strategies to restore cellular bioenergetics, redox balance, and regenerative capacity. Research spans cardiac and vascular applications and includes controlled mitochondrial sourcing, surface modification, targeted delivery, stress-resilient engineering, and evaluation of mitochondrial quality and potency. 

Biomaterials and Targeted Delivery

CVET designs biomaterials and delivery systems that localize therapeutic agents within diseased cardiovascular tissues. These approaches include injectable materials, nanoparticles, microspheres, implant coatings, and disease-targeted carriers for sustained or spatially controlled delivery of biologics, small molecules, cells, and organelles.
