About Us

What is CVET?

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality and presents complex clinical challenges that cannot be addressed through basic biomedical discovery or clinical practice alone. Advances in bioengineering and biotechnology are creating new opportunities to diagnose, treat, repair, and regenerate the cardiovascular system. Realizing the clinical potential of these technologies requires sustained integration among engineers, cardiovascular scientists, clinicians, and translational experts.

The CardioVascular Engineering and Technology Center (CVET) will bring together engineers, scientists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, trainees, and translational partners around a shared mission: To develop and advance engineering-based technologies that improve the diagnosis, treatment, repair, and regeneration of the cardiovascular system.

CVET is an affiliate research center of the Querrey Simpson Institute for Regenerative Engineering at Northwestern University (QSI RENU)
